EECS FALL 2008 DROP/MODIFY DEADLINES

Please note these are EECS GRADUATE STUDENT deadlines, they are different than the UNDERGRADUATE deadlines and only GRADUATE STUDENT deadlines apply to you. You should disregard any other drop deadlines.

The last day to drop a course without receiving a "W" on your transcript:

SEPTEMBER 22 , 2008

From SEPTEMBER 23 - NOVEMBER 2, 2008
you may drop a course and you will receive a "W".  Signatures are required from instructor & academic advisor. If a student receives permission to drop a course officially after the first three weeks of class, the course is recorded on the transcript with a "W" notation; neither credit hours toward a degree program nor honor points are earned.

Beginning NOVEMBER 3 , 2008
a drop/mofication is approved only for exceptional circumstances. Such approval will be granted only in cases of extreme extenuating circumstances, such as an extended illness.  A course cannot be dropped for reasons such as poor performance, irregular attendance, failure to complete assignments, etc.  Requires signatures from instructor, academic advisor & Graduate Chair

We do not permit a change to a VI after eight weeks, for the same reason that we do not allow a student to drop a course after the established deadline. This is a change in course elections, and should be handled by the student’s Program Advisor and his/her course instructor.
